"Do you actually make money with Mary Kay?"

Today's blogpost is going to be answering one of the questions that I get asked: "Do you actually make money doing Mary Kay?"The answer is a huge YES!

Money is not my forte. I suck at saving money and I spend way too much money tbh BUT Mary Kay has been a little bit of side money for me. (BTW I have been working on saving money and maybe I will do a post about that but for now, continuing on with Mary Kay funds)

With MK, you make 50% of your sales. SO if you sell $20 you get $10. You charge people tax so that you can receive the 50% because MK charges you full tax! Consultants discounts that they create are all up to themselves except for the very scarce time when there is a deal online for us to take advantage and therefore we promote it to our customers.

The truth about sales with MK are that consultants want you to become their customer so they give you a deal to start liking the products and the next time, you'll buy it at full price which is totally smart and great in my opinion.

The part where people don't understand about the whole money making thing (especially with me) is you use your own products, you open demo products, you pay for events and travel and accessories. Where the hell do you make money there??

Well, before I started selling MK, I would spend an entire paycheque on makeup and other beauty items. All my summer job or part-time job money!! When I started selling MK that stopped because I would just use Mary Kay which was paying for itself from my sales. My pay cheque and my chequing account was HAPPY!

So in short, some months I just break even because I went a little overboard on the lipsticks or I ran out of a lot and some months I make some money!

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I am not a full-time consultant so I do not have this as a disposable income but I do find it makes a difference in my finances :)

My Current Skincare Routine | Spring Forward

Hey ladies,

Today I will be sharing with you my favourite skincare products. If I had to start this blog when I first started Mary Kay I wouldn't have been able to confidently tell you what I was using and loving but after trying the products and figuring out what I like, I can finally tell you my favourites. I want to say that one of my favourite things about Mary Kay's skincare is that you can mix and match between all the lines and they still work together greatly!

When choosing skincare that is going to work for you, you have to analyze your skin and figure what its needs are! My skin is combination (this means it is oily and dry all at once)! It is also sensitive but acne prone so I have to be careful with some types of products. If you are having trouble figuring out what works, just give me a massage and I will help you out!

After a long day at school wearing makeup I always look forward to coming home and wiping away my makeup. I use 2 cotton rounds from Walmart each time and I put a little bit of Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover on each and it gently takes away all my shadow, liner and mascara. I have also used it on my lips to remove stubborn lipstick and it works perfectly! (tastes a bit weird though)

I then wash my face with the ClearProof Cleanser and Skinvigorate Facial Brush with warm water. The Cleanser is harsh enough to wash away my face makeup and treat my acne without drying out my skin. It has salicylic acid in it so it treats blemishes as it washes and the Facial Brush helps exfoliate daily without being to harsh on my sensitive skin. After this I use another cotton round and apply the Clearproof Toner. A toner is something most women forget or just don't know to use but it is a crucial step for having nice skin. Toner's rebalance your skin's pH - in other words it takes away that stiff feeling you get after you wash your face! After toning I apply a dime sized amount of Oil-Free Hydrated Gel! THIS TOOK ME FOREVER TO FIND. I knew it was a Mary Kay product, I seen it every time I placed an order and every time I flipped through The Look and I still wonder why I never thought anything of it. I got it for free one month as an ordering bonus and I ran out of whatever I was using and said "frig it now! It was free and nobody ever buys it?!" and when I started to use it I fell in LOVE. It is lightweight, it absorbs right into my skin and it creates the perfect base for my makeup. The thing is I was still skeptical on two things: this cream costs $40 a crock and I have dry skin around my nose yet this product was oil-free! I put it to the test and it won me over because this crock lasts me a lot longer than the other moisturizers I was using and it moisturizes my skin without making me oily. This is a hidden treasure!

On my eyes, I use the Cooling Eye Gel and it works wonders in the morning on my puffy eyes. It is super thin and once you leave it for a couple of minutes it doesn't even feel like you put it on. I also love the Firming Eye Cream but I do not use it religiously because I am not yet aging and I find I have no reason to YET. My mom swears by it though and it is on of my top 5 best sellers!

Weekly (sometimes twice a week), I use the Botanicals Mask. This is so nice. Its minimal ingredients make it wonderful for any skin type and even though it isn't geared towards acne prone customers, it is great to keep pores clear and skin's surface smooth and clean. I usually will put this on in the bathtub and wash it off before I get out.

Well everyone, that was my skincare routine. I will let you know if I change any of the products up! If you have any ideas for my next blog post, let me know and thanks for reading!

My Favourite Under-Rated Products From Mary Kay | Spring Forward

Hey ladies,

When looking at Mary Kay's products a lot of people look for the nicest foundation or the typical creme lipstick so I thought I would share what I think are the most underrated products!

1. Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

This is easily my favourite product ever. I use this every single evening to remove my eye makeup in one swipe and I also use it to clean my makeup sponges. I have tried so many makeup removers and the reason why this remains my favourite is because:
- it is soft and gentle but it removes EVERYTHING (even waterproof mascara!)
- it has nice packaging - it has never leaked and it has a little squirt cap so I don't waste product.
- one bottle usually lasts about three months
- it is affordable for a high-end quality remover
If you haven't tried this, YOU NEED TO. It will change the way you remove your makeup.

2. Skinvigorate Facial Cleansing Brush

This isn't really a product but it is Mary Kay and in my opinion, it is very underrated. This product is like a little electric toothbrush for your face. It has 2 speeds and I just use a little bit of whatever cleanser I am using that month on it and it foams up and exfoliates my face without irritating it! This may be a little costly in some people's opinions but it is way cheaper than the more popular facial cleansing brushes and does the exact same thing! (Trust me, I have tried them and wasted my money on them)

3. Lash Intensity Mascara

I was pretty sceptical when this mascara first came out. The packaging was really funky and the brush had lots of little and big bristles so it looked hard to apply. But I ordered it and when I tried it out, it certainly surprised me. First of all, it is intense black so it gives lots of definition. The small bristles reach every lash and it doesn't only add volume but it also adds length! I love it! Totally worth the money.

4. True Dimensions Lipsticks

A lot of people ask which lipstick formula is my favourite and it is definitely the True Dimensions because they are so creamy! They are almost like a tinted lip balm except they stay on way longer. The packaging is super cute and unique and it always ends up being a topic of conversation. My two favourite shades are Sassy Fuchsia and Rosette.

5. Mineral Powder Foundation Brush

This product is a little strange to talk about but it is a little mini brush that does not come included with the brush kit. It is made from 100% real hair and it is a flat top, dense brush. I do not use this for Mineral Powder. I use it for CC Cream and foundation. This has the perfect density to blend and distribute the product and it is easy to clean with the brush cleaner from MK. If you haven't tried using a brush to apply CC Cream or Foundation, you should really try this brush. I demonstrate this at my Skincare Parties!

I hope you enjoyed reading about these underrated products. If you want to try them for yourself please send me an email: victoriab14@outlook.com. Mary Kay has a 60 day money back guarantee if you aren't sold on the products.

How I Handle Selling Mary Kay and Going to University at the Same Time!

Hey everyone,

I have been selling Mary Kay since the beginning of my Grade 12 year of high school which was believe-it-or-not the busiest year of my life. I had a boyfriend, I played on the basketball team, I tutored after school, I went to Girl Guides, I was a member of Student Leadership, I had lots of friends and I had to study and keep on top of all things school. Mary Kay was never my top priority but I still managed to attend meetings and events and keep track of my current and new customers delivering them nice customer service. Here's how I did it!

1. Keep an Agenda!!
This is so important and of course I still do this now! I use my agenda to keep track of school work and also keep track of Mary Kay. I colour coded my planner not just for school but my whole life! This way when I look at my calendar, I can see all my events and prioritize and manage my time in a way to get the most important stuff done first and still manage to fit it all in.

2. Use a simple system.
Keeping track of Mary Kay is SUPER SIMPLE! (Let me know if you want a blog post about this) I keep all my sales slips and I have a filing system for my customers. This way, if someone asks me to order them the same foundation that they had 6 months ago, all I need to do is glance at their file. Also, I have found that placing my orders on a schedule can help a lot too.

3. Social Media
Promoting my business is not one of my strong points BUT I do get most of my exposure online through my Facebook Page. It was super simple to set up and I just post all my Mary Kay related photos and little ads and such on there. I find it easiest to go on Pinterest and use some cute photos on there. I may not get a lot of business directly from the page but it keeps people aware that I am still a consultant and they get to see that I know my stuff when it comes to the products!

4. Multi-tasking
This is a big one. If it was not for this tip, I would barely have any customers. Multi-tasking is the reason why I am still here. I take Mary Kay wherever I go and talk about it at other events too. For example:
I wear makeup everyday so I wear Mary Kay to promote and sell it!
I attend Girl Guide meetings once a week so why not bring the Mary Kay tote bag with me to inform the mothers of the Brownies that I sell Mary Kay.
I moved to a different place for university and while I am studying why not take a break by looking at a Mary Kay catalogue and share with my friends.
I like to write about stuff so why not start a blog about my Mary kay!
It is so easy to pass the word around and share this wonderful company with others and Mary Kay Ash made it so easy to do just that.

I hope you found these little tips helpful. If you did please share my blog with your friends and let me know what other things you would like to hear about.

Why I Started Mary Kay

Mary Kay consultants everywhere call "the reason why" they started Mary Kay their I-Story and they share their's to inspire others to hopefully join their team so here is mine!

I was first introduced to Mary Kay at a very young age. I would see my mom, my friend's moms and other women wearing the lipstick and "the brown stuff." It was probably one of the first make up brands I knew as a young girl but at that young, naive age I never looked at the actual quality of the product or the story behind it.
My very first skincare "line" was the Velocity line from Mary Kay and it only had 2 products in orange and white tubes. My mom had bought them from Tina O'Brien who I always knew sold Mary Kay because she lived next to where I got my hair done and my elementary school boyfriend's mom! She was passionate about the brand and she always gave me samples when I came over! I thought it was so cool that she had a room full of makeup in her house! It was funny because the idea of this business still never occurred to me. I must have thought that Tina was granted special permission to sell this or something. Who would have known that ANYONE could sell Mary Kay?
As more makeup brands were introduced and we drove to Wal-Mart on the weekends where they had a huge selection, I started to wear my own makeup (probably products that was harming my skin and causing some of my acne.) I watched lots of Youtube videos about how to apply it, what to buy and what the latest trends were and Mary Kay got lost and referred to in my head as "an old lady brand." This stereotype still exists when I mention that I sell it.
At the end of Grade 11 I was over to my friend Brandi's house while she was tutoring me and she had just gotten a huge box of product in the mail from Mary Kay! She told me she could come to my house and I could try things on for free and I could invite people. She told me her aunt sold Mary Kay and that she had a whole room of it. I was already sold. I could order things and organize them and show people products and sell them? Yes.
Brandi came over for the party with boxes and bags of amazing products and little mirrors and spatulas. I was in heaven! I even helped her show people how to put on makeup! At the end of the party I earned the Clearproof skincare Set as a Hostess Gift so she told me she would come over in a couple of weeks to drop off a few things mom had ordered and see what I think. I started using the Clearproof and it started to clear up the teenage acne I had right away. I was so happy and I wanted to try out some more stuff from Mary Kay. when she came over, she showed me the starter kit and I signed up. When I got my kit, I started having parties and the rest leads me to here!

My goals for 2017 are to build my Mary Kay team and get some more ladies hooked on the wonderful products that Mary Kay has.

I want everyone to understand that I am a full-time student, part-time worker, Girl Guide leader and I still sell Mary Kay which means anyone can. It is the best business I have heard of and I will continue to use the products for a long-long time. I make money while doing something I love and that is so important :)
